Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Loma Rio water service, dues, and how the system works.
-
Where does our water come from?
Our irrigation water originates in the Gunnison River and is distributed throughout the Redlands canals by Redlands Water and Power Company. Our water is then delivered to us by Redlands Village Acres. Excess water we don't use is returned to the Colorado River.
-
What exactly is Loma Rio and how many homes are part of it?
Loma Rio consists of 61 residences located on the Redlands Mesa in Grand Junction, CO.
-
How much are the dues and what do they pay for?
2026 dues are $425, due April 20, 2026. Mail check to: Loma Rio Water Users Association, 2536 Rimrock Avenue, Suite 400-207, Grand Junction, CO 81505. Please include your email address for future notifications.
The board uses dues to pay Redlands Water and Power for our water shares and Redlands Village Acres for water delivery. Dues also cover insurance, utilities, bookkeeping, and the operation and maintenance of our motor, pump, pond, and distribution system.
The pump and motor are maintained by board members as much as possible, but professional maintenance is occasionally required. The pond must also be dredged every few years to ensure proper capacity and pump operation.
-
What's the watering schedule?
Odd-numbered addresses water on odd calendar days; even-numbered addresses water on even calendar days. There are two watering periods each day: 6:00–10:00 AM and 6:00–10:00 PM.
Please follow this schedule to ensure our pond maintains adequate capacity and the pump maintains adequate pressure for all residents. Watering outside your assigned days can reduce pressure for you and your neighbors.
-
Why does water pressure sometimes seem low or inconsistent?
The board regularly monitors system pressure, balancing adequate pressure for watering against the risk of damage. In previous years higher pressure led to more frequent breaks and leaks; the current regulated pressure has reduced that significantly.
A few factors can temporarily lower your pressure: residents watering on the wrong day (creating too much demand), or algae and debris clogging filters. If you see a neighbor watering on the wrong day, a friendly reminder helps. The board keeps the main system clear - please also clean your personal filters regularly.
-
What do I do if I have a leak or problem with my irrigation system?
See the Leaks page for a full troubleshooting guide and contact information. The board is responsible for maintaining the neighborhood distribution system but not individual residential systems. For personal system issues, we have an arrangement with Eddy's Landscaping Service.

How can I get involved with the board?
New board members are always welcome. If you're interested in joining or have skills that could benefit the group, reach out to any board member or use the contact form. We're a volunteer group that does as much as we can to keep costs down, and we're always looking for new ideas and help.
